Description

Comedy Cellar, New Zealand's largest (amateur) team wine tasting competition and a massive night of laughs, learning and entertainment comes to Matamata. Comedy Cellar pits local teams (tables of 8-12 persons) against each other for the title of Comedy Cellar Wine Champions Matamata. Several wines are served blind at your table, and several weighted questions are asked about each wine. Teams must agree on one correct answer to submit to the judge until a local champion is found and celebrated. After a local champion team is found, all of the Matamata's teams scores are then averaged and compared to other New Zealand towns to find the country's best wine drinking town! So not only are you competing against other local businesses, friends and colleagues on the night, collectively, you are one big team competing against other towns and cities around New Zealand (the leader boards and results can all be tracked on the website)! Comedy Cellar is co-hosted by Bob Campbell (NZ's foremost wine expert) and Michelle A'Court (one of NZ's top entertainers) and is a great evening of entertainment, competition, laughs and a bit of learning.
