Ministry of Social Development

About

Ministry of Social Development (MSD) plays an important role in supporting New Zealanders, whānau and communities through employment, income support and a wide range of social services. MSD works to help people become safe, strong and independent, while also supporting employers and businesses with workforce and employment solutions.

Through its partnership with the New Zealand Chambers of Commerce, MSD is also involved in ChamberWorks – a practical employment support initiative designed to connect businesses with local talent and workforce support. ChamberWorks helps employers access pre-screened candidates, recruitment assistance, online training and tools to support staff capability, wellbeing and work readiness. It is designed to make hiring easier for businesses while also helping more New Zealanders into meaningful employment.

As a valued member of the Matamata Chamber of Commerce, MSD brings not only its wider community and employment expertise, but also a strong commitment to supporting local businesses, workforce development and stronger regional connections. Through programmes such as ChamberWorks, MSD is helping create pathways that benefit both employers and jobseekers, contributing to a more resilient and connected local business community.
